Escrita é a minha paixão, viajar a minha amante e tradução a minha esposa!
Writing is my passion, travelling my mistress, and translation my wife!
On paper, Patricia Morais is a Translation graduate at London Metropolitan University. Author of "Sombras" published by Coolbooks. Volunteer translator for five different NGOs. And a blogger recording her writing challenges and adventures (http://trishmorais.blogspot.pt).
In real life, Patricia has a masters in the art of travelling developing countries and being robbed. A degree in life´s experiences wonder. And student to some of the lessons acquired along the way.
Her favourite hobby is procrastinating with a popcorn bucket and watch supernatural movies (or tv shows) while calling it "research". Her second hobby is to roam Wikipedia, looking for strange monsters while actually researching.

"The Roommate" was published yesterday in English. I hope Patricia can read this review behind her firewall in China, but I quite enjoyed reading "The Roommate." At first, I was confused about the setting, but then I realized that the characters are Irish, and the story takes place in a university in Samhain during Halloween! The main character Melissa is Polish.
This story is a little like a detective story with a slice of fantasy. Melissa doesn't like Halloween because her best friend was killed on that day. That's why she herself has a psychiatric problem, reconciling with the loss of her friend. At her new university, her roommate is an overprotective girl named Shiobban with TWO b's in her name. Two murders happen around campus, and Melissa believes that the murderer has kidnapped Shiobban. Melissa goes looking for her roommate, only to uncover a terrible truth about the murders.
When I noticed some editing errors, I was taken aback. Then I realized that the author Patricia is Portuguese, so it's okay if she made some mistakes in her English. The story is still readable. In fact, the story is even more amazing because Patricia was able to write it in a foreign language.
