This is a brilliant prelude to Waterman´s other short story I´ve read, Light, Speed, Action, but it can be read as a standalone, too. Set during New Year´s Eve at the turn of the millenium, this is a perfect little story for this time of year.
Once again the writing and presentation are of the highest standard and we can sit back and enjoy the thrills of spending a night in a haunted Victorian mansion with three friends, Becca, Vicky (from Light, Speed, Action) and Sani. No plot spoilers here - like the girls, you´ll have to live the story to find out who´s causing the strange noises during their freezing night together.
Part of what is shaping up to be a cracking, ongoing YA series (Photon Lock), Three, Two, One is a perfect Christmas gift of a book for anyone who loves ghost stories, mystery stories or historical fiction. Of course, it´s also highly recommended to anyone who read the first story and wants to meet Vicky again and get to know her before Light, Speed, Action.
Highly recommended!
