Review by: anyang on Jan. 13, 2017 :
A really enjoyed Russell Atchison's first book, The Fantasy Effect. The characters were likable and intriguing. I found myself rooting for some of the characters, hoping for their success, and at times nervous for them, not knowing what might happen next.

The book is packed with beautiful descriptions of the setting that are well written. I felt peaceful in the tranquil gardens as well as tense in the conference room. There were moments when my heartbeat quickened. It was the undercurrent of suspense that kept me turning the pages.

I found the relationship between the research institute and the pharmaceutical commercial industry to be fascinating and synergistic on one hand, and a complex tug of war on the other. This creates a backdrop of palpable angst and I couldn't wait to see how things would work out.

I'm excited to see what Russell will come up with next!

Dr. Grant Matthews' pharmaceutical research empire is about to come crashing down around him. Anecdotal reports indicate that his blockbuster drug my be responsible for a number of bizarre deaths. Grant uses his resources to attempt to uncover the source of the problem and is quickly confronted by deadly dark forces that threaten his existence.

Russell Atchison has combined his knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and human nature to create a gripping mystery/suspense novel that will have you guessing until the end. He created a smart, likable character in Grant who also has the ability to solve problems usually left to law enforcement and follow his convictions even in the face of danger.

I really enjoyed Mr. Atchison's first book very much and I am looking forward to reading his next one.
