Event report - Improving support for survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the Thames Valley
It is vital that we keep the focus on the best local approaches to supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse. This is the event report from a seminar on 30th November 2016 setting out crowd-sourced recommendations developed to improve support in the Thames Valley, UK More
It is vital that we keep the focus on the best local approaches to supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse. A mix of regional, national and local experts came together to discuss how we can work together to deliver this.
The participants heard from key speakers and collaborated using the tried and tested approach of workshops and discussion. They also used new online collaboration tools and social media to make this event accessible to as many people as possible.
The seminar was organised jointly by Holy Brook Associates and Trust House Reading, part of The Survivor’s Trust.
Our goal was to bring together key stakeholders from across organisations to share their expertise and experience in improving the support available for survivors of rape and sexual abuse in the Thames Valley.
We used an Appreciative Inquiry framework, a strength-based approach to transformation, and the Table Group’s approach to creating functional teams which builds a constructive, results focused atmosphere.
This is the event report, authored by Cllr Rachel Eden ACMA, Director of Holy Brook Associates.
