I followed this while it was being serialised. Tuesdays and Thursdays couldn't arrive soon enough. The story follows a young girl who escapes from her pathologically overprotective mother into a land of magic. While there, she gets handed a mystery to solve, picks up random companions, a collection of frightening adversaries, and meets several other characters who may help or hinder her for reasons of their own which don't get explained. Life is messy like that.

The ending is satisfying in a way that simpler "happily ever after" endings just don't achieve.
