About Nancy Newman

I firmly believe it's never too late to make your dreams a reality.

I worked at Eastman Kodak in Motion Picture film for over twenty years before the company started to downgrade. I was a teacher in Health and Physical Education for a few years and since then I have been working in a school district in transportation where I use software to solve the puzzle of getting 5600 students to many different schools as well as train new bus drivers.

I have always been a writer. Since high school, I have written songs, novels, short stories, and journals. I have recently self-published my first nonfiction book titled Journaling Through a Breakup. With my singing partner, we produced our first CD of original songs titled Almost There. And then there's the Whispers series, a cozy paranormal/mystery which has three books so far.

I continue with my education, taking courses in marketing and writing, participating in a local writers group and attending writer’s conferences when I can. I have a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s in Education with an emphasis on technology in education.

I have two geriatric dogs, a boxer and a Min Pin. I enjoy being active outdoors in all seasons and partake in many different activities from kayaking, long distance biking (one-hundred mile bike rides in a day) to gardening. I also love movies—most genres, but especially fantasy and science fiction.

Most of all I love to write.

And some days you might see me driving a big, yellow school bus.

About the Series: Whispers
Quinn O’Reilly owns a funeral home. She never thought it would come with spirits who lived their lives as bad people or they would whisper their requests to her that would lead her and her friends to commit acts on the wrong side of the law.

It starts with the spirit of a mob boss whose whispers drag her into a world of criminals, secrets and lies. Soon she finds it’s not only the dead Mafia boss that wants something from her, but so does his wife, his mistress and strange, dark men in dark suits. There’s a war going on and she can’t tell who’s winning—the ghosts or the Mafia.

To make the voices stop, Quinn enlists the help of a woman who communicates with the afterlife, the owner of a cemetery, an odd professor of Egyptian studies and her best friend Chaz who never knows what to wear. What’s appropriate attire for a séance or digging up a grave? Together, they enter a world of séances, grave digging, and spells from the ancient Book of the Dead to help them solve the clues left by the dead.

Quinn knows the spirits aren’t going away and neither is the leftover specter that still haunts her apartment.

Absolutely marvelous story with attention to all the fine details, which make the reader become absolved into the story. So saddening that it doesn't have more reviews.
