BEYOND A LARGE STEEP HILL by the very talented author Leigh Belrose is a fascinating story about a ten-year-old boy named Everett, who is playing a game of 'Blind Man's Buff' with his friends on his birthday. When he accidentally trips over a log it sends him tumbling down a large steep hill into a surreal adventure.
This is an enchanting story that can be read in one sitting. It is fast-paced and full of suspense. A real page-turner that will keep you guessing till the end. The story is original and compelling and I really enjoyed the interactions between the characters. The author also has a great imagination and sense of humour. The illustrations are simple yet cute.
What I liked best about this book is the author's choice to represent the main character Everett, as a boy who is always trying to view each situation in a positive light. It's definitely a book that can teach kids to be optimistic and nice to each other.
The language however, is a little bit advanced, but it is not a negative thing because it could be a good opportunity for children to learn new terms, something a parent could easily help with.It is a story any parent or grandparent would really enjoy reading to their child.
Due to all these reasons, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I highly recommend this novel to children and adults alike.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest and unpaid review.
