The author Jacob Van Der Land was born in the Netherlands in 1936. He narrates his early existence as a child during the Second World War. His migration together with his deeply religious family to Canada in 1951, and then after a failed marriage a further move to Australia in 1971. His unrelenting determination to climb out of the gutter of poverty to accumulate wealth. He details how he worked as a contract under cover agent under various guises for over 30 years, one of them being a porn shop owner in the famous Kings Cross area of Sydney for many years. He also details his struggle with religion, in particular the Protestant cult into which he was born and raised and his communion with the spirit world. He now argues that organized religion is the biggest con in history, to believe the unbelievable by faith alone, without any logic or proof has become for its followers a convenient but false crutch to lean on. He now firmly believes that all cult followers, requiring only faith, should have no problem embracing his revelation in his chapter where he tells of a future world without religion.
