A rollicking YA fantasy adventure with a touch of romance

Author E.M. McIntyre has done it again. The Secret of Berry Brae Circle, second installment in The Red King Trilogy, is a fast-paced fantasy that follows the adventures of Abby, Rory, and Abby’s dog Finlay as they search for the Book of Shay and the Rose of Shaeron. McIntyre has woven her plot out of magical strands that will hold your attention and have you holding your breath.

While The Secret of Berry Brae Circle contains enough backstory to stand alone, it is best appreciated by those who have already read the first installment in the trilogy, The Phantom of Faerie Mountain.

I had the pleasure of being among the first to read and review E M McIntyre’s spellbinding book, The Secret of Berry Brae Circle, book 2 in the Red King Trilogy. The book picks up where book 1 leaves off. Abby Fletcher has just returned from her terrifying, yet exhilarating trip to another time, where she must find the Red King in order to save her magical guide dog and restore the kingdom to its rightful leadership. As thrilling as the book was, The Secret of Berry Brae was even more exciting. Abby returns to discover that her father has been kidnapped, and unless she finds The Book of Shay, his life is threatened. The story is action-packed, sentimental, and even has a hint of romance (not going to say who falls in love). The secret can be read alone, but I encourage you to start out with book one (The Phantom of Faerie Mountain), so you can get the complete background on Abby’s quest. I give it a five-star rating, and if you like audio, you can get Phantom at Audible, Itunes, or Amazon. The narration is performed by the outstanding voice talent of Joshua Young.
