Review by: Mark Horsfall on May 10, 2012 :
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, not being a massive fan of books about war. However, this was not just a book about war per se but in the same sence it is a book about battles.
Once I started reading I soon became intrigued by the apparition of the German soldier. What was his purpose within the story? What was the relevance of the interaction between the apparition and David? As I continued to read it soon became apparant that this apparition was something we all battle with (whether we realise it at the time or not) on a day to day basis, our very own conscience. The ability we all have to determine the difference between right and wrong.
All in all, I found this a really interesting and well written story (on more than just one level) as it had me questioning decisions made in my own life, decisions that, at the time, seemed the correct ones...
