About Réal Laplaine

Born and raised in Canada, I migrated south at the cusp of my career where I spent many years working in the United States. When I finally launched my dream to write and publish, I moved to Sweden with my wife, where I now reside.
I was inspired to write by many, to name a few: Richard Bach, Tolkien, Arthur C. Clarke, Walter Miller and Orwell.
For the most part I write thrillers in geopolitical, crime and sci-fi genres. I pen a separate crime-series called The Keeno Crime Thrillers (3 so far) - based on a Canadian crime-fighter who heads up the RCMP anti-terrorism unit. Most of my books, while thrillers, contain strong existential themes that spotlight contemporary issues affecting all people. My book See Me Not, a literary fiction about an 8 year-old girl sold into sexual slavery, spotlights the global issue of human sex trafficking. The book is the ambassador for Behind Closed Doors, an initiative which helps expose this criminal activity. I offer the book for free to interested people, as well as to NGOs, non-profits, schools and institutions around the globe. In this regard I am affiliated with and support RealStars - a European-based NGO which campaigns against abuse and trafficking. It is my goal as an author to not only entertain readers but to plant seeds for betterment and advancement in our world.
