The Fall Tree
While contending with high school, friendships, and a crumbling family, twins Dinah and Joseph Shaul find their relationship tested. More
A novel by E.K. Finch, The Fall Tree is a coming of age story that is often times funny, other times painful, and sometimes capable of being both at the same time.
Dinah and Joseph Shaul’s plan to get through high school is easy. Overcome any obstacles thrown their way and spend as much time with their best friends Rachel, Eli, and Jenna. Sounds perfect, right?
But that all changes on the night of their 16th birthday when they learn their mother has to go for brain scans. With uncertainty and anxiety lingering in the air, Dinah and Joseph see their once functioning family unit slowly crumble before them. Their mother’s symptoms progress, while their father drifts away from their lives. As Dinah and Joseph individually try coping with these new pressures, they find their relationship constantly tested. When complex emotions and sexual tension grows, the line between moral obligation and social taboo becomes ambiguous.
