About Clem van Vliet

Born in South Africa in 1925, Clem married on her eighteen birthday. After her husband’s returned from WWII the young family emigrated to Rhodesia. Unexpectedly widowed, Clem was forced to make hard choices but ended up creating a modest business empire in a male dominates business world. Going on to create a piece of heaven in the African bush, she survived a viscous war; being pistol whipped and left for dead; and . . .the night of the elephants. Clem now lives in Cape Town where she arranges classical music evenings for her retirement village. Her favourite pursuit is playing her boudoir grand piano. She has two children, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
