In Canada, First Nations people have had to live around laws and legislation made in favor of settlers but actively detrimental to their livelihoods. Racist attitudes around Aboriginal people and the needs for land distributions have resulted in reserves that are underfunded, poorly maintained and left with residential schools that have harmed and broken societal bonds.
