Fur and Fangs #1

Adult Erotica
Rated 5.00/5 based on 1 reviews
First of a series of Fur and Fangs’ novelettes. Moving to big, bustling New York City from rural Georgia is already exciting enough for country wolf Riley Evans, but it becomes downright exhilarating when she spots a beautiful woman in a yellow dress on her morning commute. The only problem is, she has no idea what to say to city girls…especially one that happens to be a vampire.

About Rae D. Magdon

Rae D. Magdon is a writer and author specializing in sapphic romance and speculative fiction. When she felt the current selection of stories about queer women were too white, too strictly gendered, and far too few in number, she decided to start writing her own. From 2012 to 2016, she has written and published ten novels with Desert Palm Press, won a Rainbow Award in the 2016 Science Fiction category, and was runner up in 2015 for the Golden Crown Literary Award in the Fantasy category. She wholeheartedly believes that all queer women deserve their own adventures, and especially their own happy endings.

First story I read from this author. (I might have read some Clexa Fanfiction from her but as it's not a fandom I usually follow, I tend to pay less attention and can't remember for sure)

I chose this one to see if I enjoyed her writing style for 2 reasons :
- length : It's a short story (less than 30 pages on the pdf version) and I currently not in a right state of mind to invest myself in much more.
- theme : I'm familiar with paranormal romance and it was a safe bet that I would enjoy some werewolves & vampires action.

And enjoyed it, I really did !
@I love the humor. ( A BluddBubble! Extra oxygen included! gum, anyone ?)
@The Unconventional characters. Helplessly timid werewolf lesbian turned giddy puppy who is jonesing to drop to all fours and chase {her} tail for a while. . X . The colorfully dressed, curvy, dark skinned vampire !
@A thoughtfully built background featuring multiple species : Satyr; selkie; of course Mr Mrglsptz would be a demon. Can't believe I missed this when first seeing the name !; and a centaur in the extra-wide seating section
@The pace is just right. Fast (30 pages remember) but not rushed.
@Ice on the cake is a believable/sensible/steamy sex scene.

I wasn't expecting so much from a short story. Magdon seems truly gifted for rendering well structured, unconventional world in just a few words. I haven't read scifi & fantasy for a while but I'll try her books as soon as my mind's fit enough for it. In the meantime, I'll be reading all the Fur & Fangs series for sure !
A new favorite. Will reread.

PS: Accurate cover. Always a bonus
