A Brief History of Howard

A darkly humorous and thrilling tale of good vs evil.

One reader, an English Literature major, initially said that the villain is the most evil character she’s ever read in any literature, even surpassing Iago.

Unlike the Biblical David, protagonist, Howard Stein is completely unprepared for the onslaught of evil. Yet, he emerges victorious in this thought provoking, unique novel.

About Robert M. Levin

Robert Levin, a St. Louis native known as ‘Bob’ to his friends, earned his B.A. and M.S.W. from Washington University. While a post-grad at Washington University, he came perilously close to earning an M.F.A. in Creative Writing having studied with Stanley Elkin, Howard Nemerov, Jarvis Thurston, and the Distinguished Letters Gang. He has published a few magazine and newspaper articles, but the bits and pieces of writing fiction didn’t form a coherent picture for him until he read Mark Twain’s essay on Fenimore Cooper, and then the anvil of gestalt fell upon his head. A Brief History of Howard is his first novel.

After a two-year stint in Los Angeles, he relocated to Atlanta where he now lives with his wife and children.
