I actually missed reading book no one of this series, but after reading what's entailed within this storyline there is absolutely NO way I am missing out on any more of this superbly written novel .
Marla Braziel has definitely out done herself with this dramatically suspenseful paranormal novel, she has created something far outside the normal take on werewolves, and to say this ensemble of character's are developed with a natural understanding of how different they really are helps you to understand how they feel.
It is soo completely different from any other stories that involve werewolves, the twist's and turn's that Ms Braziel takes, ( keeping the world she has drawn us into intriguing ), is extremely fascinating with a little darkness that runs through the lives, emotion's and events that develop around a number of mysterious circumstances.
Tanya Raveen's report that was meant for her investigative department, has been ignored as far as she is aware. Due to catching the werewolf virus, she now must spend the rest of her life inside the Reservation she was supposed to report on ,anything she could assertain regarding the world and life of those within the Blackfoot Reservation.
So the series introduces us to Cassandra Frost who is of a different calibre to that of her prior operative. Knowing this is the perfect opportunity for her to be part of, there is no way she's going to make the same mistakes that Tanya did. The character's we get to know are a very tight and protective of their community, even though they have accepted each investigator with open arms, there are many mysterious and secretive laws and belief's that must stay intact and part of their lives and community.
This is one of the action's that frustrate those who have ulterior motives, the fact that this pack is still functioning in a positive manner,
has ensured that how they live doesn't impact on anyone around them.
The pack accepts Cassandra with an openess and trust she didn't expect, in fact the plot she has worked out can do nothing other than work its way into the heart of the pack, destroying their lifestyle with an extremely tenacious resolve.
Ms Braziel descriptive style is positively refreshing giving us a wonderful view of who and what the Blackfoot werewolves are about, creating character's who you respond to on each level, with all the drama being created by the web of events that are unknowingly being woven around them, you can't help but become more involved as events start to unfold.
As much as Cassandra intended to create problems from the inside out of the central core of elders and personnel, entertaining idea's of internal disatisfaction, never in her wildest dreams could she understand the depth of rot and evil that has already started within the reservation.
As in any political group, or group of people who have power, corruption can take hold of anyone, especially when they least expect it. From the continuous battles occuring within, the importance of why they live together as a pack, love each other and die protecting each other seems to be lost, or destroyed by the level of corruption that's been allowed to work its way into each level of the pack heirachy.
Knowing how their world works Cassandra starts to become suspicious of those who believed in how easily she could destroy this pack, who is involved with the internal rife growing rapidly, and what is going to happen to those living inside the reservation boundaries.
Entertaining and full of personalities who are going to stay with you until you finish this series, you become enthralled with how this is going to end. This extremely talented Author has created a puzzle that needs every little piece, to bring this storyline to its correct conclusion
So if you're a Paranormal lover you definitely should grab this book asap.
