A BRILLIANT SCI-FI PAGE TURNER
An absolute blast of a beginning of a series by Michael Ender. The action is non-stop, fast paced, and absolutely adrenaline filled - the exact definition of a sci-fi thriller. With first officer, Adriana Archa, at the helm, who is forced to take over the duties of the Captain, her mind works faster than the plot of the enemy ship. Knowing that coming home empty-handed would mean treason, she outsmarts both the enemy Floskian warship as well as enemy closer to home, Legion starship.
I commend the author Michael Ender for giving us such a bold and clever heroine. She is cool and collected when she has to fool her enemies, she is calculative, one step ahead of the fight plans and she knows that she is as good as her team is. So her trust in her team mates is absolute.
Inspite of this book being a novella of 48 pages, Michael has also given us the background history of Adrianna to know and understand where she is coming from. The secondary characters Kadri, Davrial, and Bubby play their parts very well, supporting Adrianna in their times of crisis.
The only niggles I could think of was getting used to the sci-fi terms and the fact that the book was only 48 pages.
It is usually difficult to give a complete story with action, emotion, pathos, fights, game plots in a sci-fi novella without a cliffhanger, but Michael Ender has done it. He is absolutely brilliant in this. This was a start of the series, I am soon going to be flying through the rest of them in outer space, where the action never stops...
