MY NIGHTMARE POWERED DOWN
This story came after having the same nightmare every night that I slept for over twenty-three years. I decided to tell the story and maybe I will finally be free of my nightmare.
This story is fiction and only skims the surface of the problems that this group of people would have to solve or suffer through.
The group of people in, My Nightmare Powered Down, had to learn to listen and actually hear what was being said and learn not to judge what is being said by what we think of the person saying it. We could all survive anything; even a situation like the one described.
This story is meant to get people thinking about one of our possible futures. With our technology, we tend to depend on it instead of each other. I believe that we may need to temper that with a real understanding of what we can do for each other. I believe that the actions of each person make up the future of everybody. Even telling this story will change the future of someone, maybe someone who reads it.
I cannot imagine what it must have been like in the cities like New York where there are nine million people all fighting for what little bit of food that was in the stores. How many people must have starved to death or died of dehydration, afraid to even go out of their apartments or houses to try and find food and water? I can only imagine that millions must have died and their bodies left to rot with no one to bury them and no place to bury them. The ones who did survive could have either froze to death during the Winter or died of heat stroke during the Summer. They might even turn cannibalistic, or die of thirst.
Some could have left the city trying to find a place that was warmer and where they could get food and water. What they might encounter along the way was the residents of the area protecting their life giving supplies with life taking force. I just cannot imagine it.
