From Within the Firebirds Nest is a riveting tale that catapults readers into a world filled with mystery, conspiracy, and unimaginable dangers. The narrative introduces a realm that is laced with tension, uncertainty, and impending doom over the possible detonation of deadly bioweapons. Espionage, crypto-codes, and number stations are all key components in this captivating account — where any wrong or uncalculated move could spell total annihilation!
I rarely use the word ‘wow’ but that is exactly the impression this book left me — Wow! From the very first page up to the last, there wasn’t a single dull moment. I would be up at odd hours completely engrossed in the narrative in anticipation of what would happen next. I must say, this is the best book I’ve read all year in its genre. It had the perfect blend of mystery and suspense; there were also a number of plot twists that I totally did not see coming, which sure kept me on the edge of my seat. The pace had a nice steady incline with every passing chapter building up the level of intensity. I could tell there was a lot of research that went into writing the book: the setting created, locations mentioned, organizations and weapons all fit into the narrative that not only created a tale that was enjoyable to read but one that was very convincing as well.
Additionally, the three points I usually look for in a novel were all there. The characters were well fleshed out and believable; most characters introduced were central to the plot. The events that occurred were compelling to read. And finally, the author’s storytelling ability was great. I was amazed by how the story wrapped in the end. This was my first Sheldon Charles novel and it certainly won’t be my last. This is a book I’d definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates a high-quality thriller and mystery novel laced with just the right dose of suspense.
