Searching for her soul mate, Malone Normandy meets a mega-wealthy CEO who loves her, but she soon learns of his dark side and plunges again into the maddening single scene to find her karmic ‘meant to be.’
Malone Normandy ran through the office building’s lobby, heading for a most necessary visit to the ladies’ room. Reginald Van Houghton quickened his pace as he marched toward the express elevator. He was so accustomed to rushing from one power meeting to another, dashing around was his default stride. Malone and Reginald simultaneously reached the open, right-angle portion of the blind corner and collided. Reginald grabbed Malone’s forearm to steady her and prevent a fall. She looked up, and then lifted her chin once again to view the face above the vest and suit jacket. That much body hinted at a height of at least 6’ 3”. “I’m terribly sorry,” …” Oops, excuse me,” …their apologies tumbled out, over-lapping each other. She had to crane her neck a bit to take in all the details of his face, but it was an easy effort…gazing at a modern-day version of Michelangelo’s David. Deep-set, chocolate brown eyes with lashes most women work hard to achieve; a nose so attractive, but still masculine, it could only have been sculpted by a gifted plastic surgeon, and lips that struck the perfect combination between not too thick or thin, with just a hint of that bow-lip pouty thing. He had a slight sun-kissed tan too; bronzy, but not fake, as if the talented artist who painted him added a glow to the portrait. Malone took all that in with lightning speed, then noticed his thick, shiny dark brown hair, worn a tad too long. Suddenly it wasn’t as easy to breathe as it usually was. And who had turned the heat up in the lobby? A note of familiarity — more than that, intimacy struck. Malone was about to ask if they’d met before when she noticed the clock on the lobby wall. She was late for her first appointment…and still had to use the restroom.
