About J A Fleming

JA Fleming makes her home in southern Louisiana. With a laugh, she describes herself as a lily– white redneck southern woman.

A teller of stories and a heroine of elaborate imaginary games when she was a child, Fleming began to put stories on paper in middle school. She started by transcribing tales her father wove for her and her sisters while on long car rides – tales that were scary but with “funny” endings. When she was sixteen she wrote the first lines of what would become the debut series she’d share with the reading world, Curse of Royalty.

Graphic designer by day, writer by night, Fleming says she’s single – a fact she is convinced allows her to sleep late and most importantly, allows her the time and energy needed to focus on writing and other hobbies like needlecrafts, sculpture, drawing, and painting. With a love of story that makes it difficult to turn a TV off, Fleming revealed that she doesn’t have cable or internet services at her home – a choice she credits with freeing up time to write, although, she admits, she still spends plenty of hours in front of the “time-sucking black hole.”

A few of Fleming’s favorite authors: Laura Lond, Chris Fabry, Louis L’Amour, Jerry B. Jenkins, Timothy Gautreaux, Jane Austin, Ted Dekker, JRR Tolkien, Frank Peretti, CS Lewis.

About the Series: Curse of Royalty
What if society adopted a gruesome practice to keep the crown from tyranny? What if this practice, instead of being the warning it was intended to be, becomes common practice? The Kingdom of Drayden is a society plagued by what they call the "curse of royalty" and Queen Peydra is intimately familiar with this curse. Subject to the curse herself, she refuses to submit to its inevitability.

Review by: LK Hunsaker on Jan. 1, 2018 :
J.A. Fleming's debut novel, Drayden's Queen, the first of the Curse of Royalty series, features intrigue, romance, and adventure with an historical/literary feel. Peydra, while learning the tasks of her new position, also must learn what's inside herself and of how much she is capable. There's also the issue of who to trust and who to keep a close eye on, inside and outside her castle and kingdom.

Fleming has an eye for detail that brings the reader right inside the story and her love for her characters shines through with their every movement and every bit of dialogue. A recommended read.
