Marlee Liss is a 22-year-old Torontonian, feminist, poetess, globe trotter and yogi. Growing up as a competitive dancer, artistic expression naturally became her main outlet for emotion and self-discovery. By courageously sharing her vulnerable journey through trauma, she has grown a following through social media @marleenamaslays and has had her work featured by organizations like End Rape on Campus. Alongside this book, she has birthed the Re-Humanize movement, hosting a diverse range of fundraisers to end gender-based violence.
A wanderlust soul, Marlee is a gatherer of homes and adventures. From trekking Machu Picchu, to living on a Peruvian Eco-Yoga Farm, to tree planting, to summers spent on off-grid communes throughout British Columbia, Marlee’s message continues to develop while her platform shapeshifts between dance, activism, yoga and writing. After working on Yasodhara Ashram, which celebrates mindfulness and Divine Femininity, Marlee completed her 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and is now teaching international yoga retreats.
When she is not frolicking around the globe, Marlee dances Beyonce style with empowering companies like Army of Sass, offers workshops called “Feminism & Yoga”, studies anti-oppressive social work practice, and spreads messages of self-love through her work with NEDIC (National Eating Disorder Information Centre).
Marlee feels that her higher purpose is to bring healing to our world by reminding individuals of the divinity within themselves and within every moment. For more information visit marleeliss.com.
