About Jack Nganga

Jack Nganga was born on 31st July 1982 in Kikuyu location, Kiambu county, in Kenya. He was the seventh and last child. His father was a civil servant and his mother a homemaker. From an early age, he showed great interest in reading novels and writing short stories. However, he went through the Kenyan 8-4-4 system of education where he was unable to properly harness his passion and potential, for the system had little or no provisions to identify and nurture individual talents. His favorite subjects were English and History, but despite excelling in them, his overall mean grade which consisted of more than ten other subjects, failed to secure him a spot in a public university or major college where he had hoped to pursue a degree in English literature or History.
He trained as a computer technician and has been doing freelance work in Nairobi, selling computer hardware and fixing computer problems.
He had written poems and short stories all through his school life, but after school he was forced to shelve his dreams in favor of a more “realistic” career in computers. It would take more than a decade for him to resume writing again. His motivation to return to writing was heavily influenced by the new emerging internet provisions, channels and social media arenas where he could showcase and publish his work. His poems are strictly rhyming free-verse narratives whose themes heavily lean on failed love, loneliness, alcoholism, death and other philosophical dilemmas related to these subjects.
He is in the process of completing his first novel; Lineage under siege, which will be published at Smashwords on 1st July 2017. His second novel; The patriarch, is in mid -level production scheduled to be released sometimes in august 2017.
Jack Nganga is also an aspiring songwriter and music producer. He loves amateur singing, watching TV action dramas, history and astronomy documentaries.
He lives in Kikuyu, Kenya. He is married with one daughter.
