About Carl Peterson

Carl Peterson was born and raised in Greenock, Scotland, on the banks of the River Clyde. Carl grew up hearing the folk songs and tales of Scotland. Radio and recordings also introduced Carl to the likes of Burl Ives, The Kingston Trio, The Weavers, The Corries, and Tommy Makem & The Clancy Brothers, to name but a few. Later, Peterson would meet and eventually perform with some of these entertainers. From Scotland Carl emigrated to Canada where he performed from Newfoundland on the East Coast to British Columbia in the West. In the 1980's Peterson moved on to the United States, performing at Scottish and Irish festivals and concerts throughout the country. After a sold-out 1994 debut, Carl remained a popular addition to Columbia Artists' Community Concerts touring roster for 6 years. With his 12-string Guild guitar Carl continues to present the songs and stories of Scotland as well as folk songs from Ireland, England and America.

Now semi-retired from performing, Carl has written two books and is working on a third. His first book is about the influence of Scotland and the Scots on Texas and the Alamo, "Now's the Day and Now's the Hour, Scotland Remembers the Alamo". Carl's second book is "Ewan Colin Coupar and a Touch of the Fae". In a new take on old tales, Carl combines fact, folklore, and fantasy into a story featuring a cast of faerie folk, who mingle with humans in our own world. These encounters result in children who have a “touch of the Fae” coming together and finding that sinister forces are at work, seeking to steal the ancient knowledge of the Fae. Carl's third book will be a sequel to the "Ewan Colin Coupar" book.
