The novel helped explain situations that are common in the society where I grew, I can very much relate to it.... I love this novel, I can't wait to read "If I Say No".

+ I appreciated being taught about the Bengali culture.
+ I came to love Seb. His pain was very well portrayed.

- Seb's sudden feelings for Shell seemed unrealistic to me. Shell comes across as a control freak, a fact which Seb laments initially. I don't see what changes his view of her. Karaoke can't be enough.
- The line breaks were confusing sometimes since it was the same speaker talking. Also, many of the italics were unnecessary for cultural terms after they had been introduced and repeated many times.
- Seb feels accepted by Shell. In what way? Just because she said IN THEORY she accepts his burns?

All in all, there was just too little plot and character building for me.
