About Arun Kumar Roy

Mr Arun Kumar Roy has over 42 years of experience in diverse manufacturing sectors such as automobile, steel wire rope, steel hot rolling mill, material handling and bus & coach manufacturing company in senior leadership positions.

Experienced in designing, restructuring and modernisation of organizations, techno-commercial aspects of projects and troubleshooter. He is currently based at Gurgaon in India.

He started his career in TELCO, (now: TATA Motors) as a Post Graduate Trainee in their Engineering Research Centre after his M.Tech in Production Science & Technology from I.I.T. Kharagpur. He spent a long stint with Usha Martin Industries in Ranchi as Vice President (Engineering Design & Projects), and was instrumental in modernizing the plant, making the firm one of the top five leading steel wire rope manufacturers in the world.

He had also successfully led his team to start factories both in India and outside India in Thailand, Yugoslavia and Sri Lanka. Till recently, he was the Executive Director of JCBL Ltd., a Bus & Coach manufacturing company and helped JCBL start a new chassis & body production line for bus and coach manufacturing. As a trouble shooter for technical and management concerns, he has been credited with starting several green field factories and in turning around struggling businesses.

He was the recipient of the prestigious “Vasvik Industrial Research Award 1991, for Mechanical Sciences and Technology” for developing several innovative equipments, first time in India.

He was an honorary member of a 13 member “Engineering Sciences Research Committee” of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt. of India.

Published articles in DSIR/CEI journal and in the monthly technical magazine, ‘Project Management Today’.
