About Linda J. Scott

Born in El Paso, Texas, I grew up in Iowa and was lucky enough to have parents that like to travel. I've vacationed in almost all of the fifty states, from the east coast to the west coast and from Canada to Mexico. As a major in history, I've visited the battlefields of Little Big Horn Battlefield; on three different occasions, Gettysburg Battlefield, and the Battle of Athens (which most have never visited on the border of Iowa and Missouri). I've visited the Smithsonian Institute and such small places as the grave of Chief Wapello and The Grotto of the Redemption, well worth anyone's time.

Besides history, I grew up basically on the back of a horse. I started riding when I was three and when I was sixteen I started working the Standardbred racing barns during the summers when we weren't travelling. After graduating I bought a couple of race horses, a dark bay filly named Blitz and a sorrel colt named Breezy, which I trained and raced. My horse racing came to an abrupt end a few years later with a barn fire, in which none of the 12 head of horses died, The horse I'm pictured with is Breezy. A Standardbred gelding, that I bought as a yearly and raced as a two-year-old and three-year-old. He's the best horse I ever owned and passed from this earth when he was 25 years old.

I went to college, attended R.O.T.C.; went to Fort Knox, Kentucky for basic training and earned a B.A. in history. My interest lying mostly in American history.

My experiences in life, which have been many, have given me good resources for my writing. Staying with my grandparents on their farm when I was very young is where I learned to ride, I worked for my father; who is a Certified Public Accountant, doing taxes and bookkeeping. I managed a used car lot he had in Fairfield, Iowa. I drove a semi with a 52' trailer, worked real estate and real estate appraisal, did construction work (helping my dad and brother put up a building from the ground up plus many other projects), built cabinets and had my hands in working concrete every Fourth of July for more years than I care to think about, I do know how to cook, make garden and can food. I've worked security and have sub-taught for a few years which lead me to write my fiction books under the pen name GiAnna Moratelli. Kids are smart and I didn't want them reading anything I wrote and announce what I'd written in school, or I probably wouldn't get called back to work for some of the graphics involved.

That's my life wrapped up in a peanut shell.
