About Edward W Ostrosky

After serving two tours as an infantryman in Vietnam Ed Ostrosky travelled to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) to pursue his boyhood dream and became a game ranger. He served as a ranger in Hwange and Chizarira, as a senior ranger at Mana Pools and Marongora, and with the army as a combat tracker. Ed immigrated to South Africa in 1982 and joined the KwaZulu Bureau of Natural Resources. He founded and managed the Tembe Elephant Park for 17 years and his experiences in Maputaland during the late 1980s and early 90s provided the inspiration for this, his first novel. After leaving Tembe, Ed spent 2 years as the Conservation Manager of uMkhuze Game Reserve and another 13 as the Head of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife’s Field Training and Firearms Unit. He lives in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, with his wife, Trelda. Ed continues to advise conservation authorities and train rangers in his private capacity.
