My book is commercial fiction, 87, 650 words, what I call a Western, but since it is set in 1910, it may be classified as an Action/Adventure novel. My writings do include historical events as a backdrop. More
Sgt. Louis Anderson and Sgt. Matthew Gold were two of the best and most feared soldiers in the U.S. Cavalry. Riding together for years, they were sent from fort to fort throughout the West, riding from Arizona to North Dakota, always watching over each other. They fought in countless skirmishes and bloody battles with Indians, tracked down renegade bands who strayed off the reservation, guarded stagecoaches and payroll trains, captured thieves, murders, and grifters, and countless other tasks that required the toughest men the Cavalry had. When they mustered out of the Army a decade ago, the two men went their separate ways.
Matthew Gold now lives a quiet life on Manhattan Island doing what he enjoys the most, watching New York Giants baseball, trying to forget the brutal warfare from years past. A telegram interrupts his peaceful life when it informs him someone murdered his Army buddy and long-time friend. Matthew travels to the New Mexico Territory to investigate the murder, protect the widow’s ranch, learns the cattle business, while finding love and hate, loyalty and treachery, revenge and justice. Slowly, ever so slowly, he transitions back into that great soldier that he once was.
