I picked this book up because it looked interesting. I'm an avid fan of the type of stories that Mr. MacCormack writes. I began reading and thought, 'okay, it begins like many other stories.' Then I got to the interesting part. The part that you have no warning about. I'm talking about the parts that make one say, "OMG, did he just put that in there?" And then you reread it, and you're practically rolling on the floor laughing because, yep, he sure did put that in there.
My favorite parts of the story are when modern aspects of life are introduced to a period piece. In the middle 19th century, when this was supposed to occur, they didn't have ERs, and I don't think anyone would have had a bondage store in the town. I'm also pretty confident that the silver bullet used in this story didn't exist then, and I'm also pretty sure they didn't have library cards back then either.
Overall, this is a fantastic story. Once PayPal is up and working again, I plan to purchase the rest of the books associated with this series. I CANNOT wait to see how Jonathan bested the Egyptian God of Sex.
