Hunted (The Flash Gold Chronicles, #2)

Where are the rest of the flash gold books? My cash is burning a hole in my hand wanting to buy.

Even though I prefer the Emperor's Edge series,(one reason being that the Flash Gold series is a bit heavy on the technical stuff,) I'm always amazed at how Lindsay manages to draw me into the story with the excellent portrayal of her characters and their amusing interaction; and I'm definitly looking forward to read more of this series.

Such a joy to read a well constructed, funny, beautifully described, imaginative tale.

In the second of the Flash Gold stories, Kali McAlister has now found a larger city in the Yukon, a new workshop where she is constructing numerous steam-powered projects, and now with a business partner. But her old foe and ex-husband shows up. She’s not going to fall for his lies, but it’s a cover for what her partner needs to do... Danger and excitement follow, with Kali extracting herself with her customary ingenuity and a lot of useful muscle from a darned gorgeous helper.

I love the setting and the engineering, and the twists and intrigue. Looking forward to the next!

Another amazing novel(la) by Miss Buroker. Love this series, but it def doesn't compete with the Emperor's Edge Series.

Another terrific instalment in the Flash Gold series - my favourite series of Lindsay Buroker's. Although Hunted, like Flash Gold, is a novella rather than a full-length novel, it's full of action,character development and atmosphere. Kali and Cedar deserve a full-length novel, or several, of their own. I hope to see Kali build her airship in the end - and what she does with it once she's got it. Oh yes, the book cover is great, too.

Great follow-up to Flash Gold. I really like the way Lindsay explains the inventions or gadgets so that even though I'm not a mechanically inclined person, I can understand what is going on. I really hate feeling like a dummy and don't have to skip technical jargon just to get through the passage. I love the interactions between Kali and Cedar.

The only thing wrong with Lindsay Buroker's Flash Gold series is that there aren't more of them! A great read.

I have read almost all of Lindsay Buroker's books. I give all of them a five star rating. I just wish she had more time to write!

Once again, Miss Buroker produces an entertaining tale of adventure and danger in her sequel to 'Flash Gold'. Kali has managed to set up another shop with her new partner, Cedar, and things seem relatively calm for them until Kali's old beau shows up with a business proposition and Cedar gets wind of his long-time nemesis being in town. Of course, mayhem and chaos ensue and the two of them soon become caught up in a deadly situation.

I think one of my favorite aspects of this series is how the characters find their way out of tight situations: not with mere brute force (which Cedar could get away with considering his excellent marksmanship), but by also thinking things through and using the laws of physics to outmaneuver their enemies when all odds seem to be stacked against them. I was also happy with the further development of Kali and Cedar's relationship in this book, as well as their growth as individuals. The reader is shown a brief glimpse into their pasts and we finally get to learn Cedar's real name. Also, the arrival of a new threat, an old business partner of Kali's father and her own intriguig inventions, helps set up a new challenge for Kali and Cedar they'll have to face in (hopefully) future books.

In conclusion, the character development, once again, is up to my strict standards; the action is, if not constantly present, always looming in the background waiting to thwart our heroes; we get another fun invention or two from Kali (I especially like the spud gun at the end); and the reader is introduced to another formidable enemy who may or may not have survived the battle at the end of the book. A very entertaining read indeed! My only question is: how long will we have to wait for 'Flash Gold' book three?
