This is an extraordinary book. The author takes us with her as she, a white woman, experiences what it was like to be engaged in the civil rights movement in the late 1960's in the deep south. She also takes us with her during this time when women began to challenge the conventional definition of the "women's role". It is beautifully and so honestly written. I highly recommend this book.
