Laury Dahners lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and enjoys composing and recording music as well as painting. Recently he has become interested in writing novels. Implausibly lucky and intelligent characters, but definitely enjoyable to read. It is really necessary to read the earlier books in the series first, though.

A minor quibble - wild carrots at the time were nothing like modern carrots. That is a trivial thing though - otherwise, it was easy to get immersed in the story.
