Review by: Ann Birch on May 15, 2018 :
Anyone who has had the immigrant experience will identify with this novel. An English girl from London marries a shell-shocked Canadian soldier and ends up on a lonely farm in Lethbridge. Certain scenes will stay in the reader's mind, especially the first meeting of the main characters in the debris of a bombed building as they wait for rescue. There's love, hate, pain, and laughter in this fast-paced story, and only a few editorial glitches and a somewhat contrived ending mar its perfection.
