Parallel journeys from Canada to Ireland: One in 1897, the inaugural year of Queen Victoria, and another a century later. These two trips are sewn together nicely by Ms. Woodburn's narration and analysis. And Emmie's letters offer vivid and captivating descriptions of her experiences, both aboard ship during her Atlantic passage, and visiting family in Ireland.
"Emmie Returns" gives the reader a peek into the past, and link from there to the present.

A fantastic book! It really captured my interest. Emmie's letters to her family gave me a reality of what it must of been like for a woman to live during that period. You did a fantastic job of tying her life with yours. Can hardly wait for your next book!!
