A young Scottish man, Alec, kills his king in order to steal the throne. After the funeral pyre for King Graham, a ceremony is held to celebrate Alec becoming the new king. He contemplates his feelings for the deceased King's wife, Lady Graham, and the sins that he has made in his life. More
A short story about Alec, a young man in Scotland who brutally kills his king, King Graham, and a guardsman. He flees to tell everyone in the castle that the king was killed by the guard. Emotions spiral into despair, and Alec is there to comfort King Graham's wife. He contemplates his sins, and his feelings for Lady Graham. Unable to cope with his feelings, he eventually starts to break under the pressure. He does not show it to anyone though, as he is the one to be made King of Scotland.
