Someone suggested that I read Polly because it was different and would surprise me. It certainly did that. The tale of a London street girl who survives the odds in the American West is a page turner. When I thought the story would go one way, it went the other.

The writing is crisp and the lead character turns out to be worth rooting for. Naturally there is a dastardly villain and a fair number of shady ladies. All in all, a good read.
