When the first of a series of asteroids reach Earth, causing a car accident that kills his mother, an unusual energy field passes through Timothy. He gradually loses his disability, and gains intelligence at an exponential rate. By the time Phobus-2 approaches, he has gained world fame as a leading scientist.
