Mama Joy

Mama Joy is lit with a quiet beauty, its language easy in the best sense of the word--graceful, melodic, never over-handled. The poems in Eileen Silver Lillywhite's collection move together like variations on a favorite theme, the "streets rasping with Cadillacs" and the "winds booming across continents," all of which set the tone for a frank look at life's major thematic movements.
