There is no book on the market that addresses the needs of long-term caregivers regardless of the challenges faced by their loved ones. Most books focus on specific illnesses or conditions such as survivors of stroke, head or spinal injuries, dementia and Alzheimer’s, or parenting an or disabled child.
Additionally, books tend to lump all caregivers into one group—those dealing with short-term illnesses, those facing end-of-life issues, and long-term care. Caring for someone who is expected to live for a relatively long period of time with an illness or condition poses specific and unique challenges for the caregiver.
This book pinpoints the needs and strategies of this population. While some books focus on “surviving” long-term caregiving, It’s My Life Too demonstrates the life of the caregiver is of equal importance and that caregiving can be a rewarding and gratifying experience.
TESTIMONIALS FOR IT'S MY LIFE, TOO!
"I love Dave's newest book! It's empowering, practical, and heartfelt -- just what we need during a time like caregiving, when we feel we don't have choices. Dave shines his light on the good choices we can make. And, those choices are good for ourselves and for our care-receivers." -Denise M. Brown, Founder, CareGiving.com
"Dave's had more than 21 years of caring for his wife, Charlene -- I'd say that makes him an expert on long-term caregiving -- and he's giving us the benefit of his expertise in this book. More than just a how-to book, you'll learn that by living a personally fulfilling life, the quality of care you provide is amplified. I encourage you to read his story and learn what you can to make your life fuller." -Adrienne Gruberg, Founder & President, The Caregiver Space, Inc.
"Caregiving is tough. It's tough all around and many find themselves facing seemingly insurmountable personal challenges. Stress, anxiety, depression, anger, financial distress, and more. In this book are real stories and real solutions for the growing numbers of the population being thrust into the scary and unforgiving world of being a caregiver -- a very worthwhile read." -Malcolm Bohm, Founder, The Caregiver Connection
