About Georgia Madison

I am a native Houstonian. As a child of age 7 to age 8 I lived about a year in Dallas, TX and I lived a couple of months in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am an Alumna of Jesse H. Jones High School in Houston, TX and Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, TX.

In high school and college I was told I was funny a lot; and I was told by many people that I should be a stand-up comedian. I was even told a lot; by my coworkers; that I should be a stand-up comedian and they still tell me that. Of course; after reading my book; it confirmed to my friends; coworkers and others that they were right about me being very funny.

I had no intentions of writing a book at all but on two different occasions; two different guys told me I should write a book. The reason for that is because we used to talk a lot at work then we became good friends and they knew my conversation was always real and direct even though I was also very humorous; and they really respected that combination. These two guys felt I could write a book because this was during the time Terry McMillan's book, "Disappearing Acts" was out and they felt; as a black woman with the mindset I had, I could also write a great book. At first I wasn't interested and I didn't give it a second thought; but then; after one of them mentioned it again and gave me an article titled "Do It Now;" I thought; "well that's two different guys who didn't even consult each other but they both feel I should write a book so maybe I should." Then one wknd I got started. Everything in my book was already sitting in my head; so when I decided to go ahead and write a book I just took off and every chapter just flowed.

The best thing about being a writer for me is that I get the chance to share my thoughts, opinions, feelings and personality with the public; and I also get the chance to share some great stories. In doing that, I'm hoping I can make a lot of people laugh because in this world filled with stress, hardships and tragedies; people definitely need laughter. Of course; and more importantly, I'm also hoping as a writer my words can get people who are behaving in a negative manner to behave much better because there are people doing some horrific, just unacceptable things; especially regarding children and I want to try to help end that behavior if at all possible.
