After dropping out of college during his second year, Ken Holcombe served as a medic in the US Army. He became a Christian during basic training and was immersed in water in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electronics technician for six years and then as a motorcycle shop owner for three years. Next, he got a job teaching small engine repair and principles of electricity to adults at a vocational school. He then taught General Mechanical Repair at a Junior High school for one year while returning to college for evening and summer classes. He taught Electronics (including computer repair) at the high school level before working as a counselor for three years. Next came two years as a high school academic dean and five years as a high school principal. While principal, he started a Science, Engineering, and Technology magnet school within a school which still exists today.
After becoming the Assistant Director of Computer Services for the same school district, he accepted the position of Director of Technology for a smaller district. He retired from education and expanded a computer repair business into a full time job. He then returned to education as a middle school counselor where he currently continues employment. He has taught at the college and university level in the evenings and weekends for sixteen years. He has been married to his wife for over 30 years.
He was ordained by the Ministers for Christ Assembly of Churches (non-denominational) and is a member of American Mensa. He holds a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.
