A little bit on Marian (little auld me!)
Home Cook, Food Blogger and Lover of all things dairy-free, healthy and natural. My books are a reflection of the journey to complete and enhance my dairy-free & spelt living.
Until late 2010 I also owned a home bakery which specialised in spelt baked goods, delicious cakes (fruit, sponge, dark chocolate!) and baking mixes (oaties and cupcakes). Then, due to the discovery of a severe dairy intolerance, in addition to the previously established wheat intolerance, I had to step back to look after my health and rediscover new and healthier recipes. Two of my cakes won prestigious awards in both Ireland (2009, one with Bord Bia, The Irish Food Board) and the Great Taste Awards UK (2010).
Dairy free & Spelt Living, my first book, is a Starter Pack and is accredited by the UK Vegetarian Society to show you how easy it is to include dairy-free, spelt flour and gluten-free ingredients to your recipe collection with ease and lots of fun. This in turn helps towards a healthier lifestyle.
Most of the recipes are also sweetened with agave, rice and maple syrups.
I live in Dublin, Ireland with my husband, Tony.
If you buy I hope you find the recipes as useful I have. My first thoughts on having to eliminate dairy from my diet was “sweet God”, I’ll never be able to enjoy delicious tasting food again! I was in shock mind but from lots of testing and throwing of mishaps in the bin I eventually started coming up with indulgent, tasty food that satisfied. Hope you agree.
