About Sean McGuire

Sean McGuire is a man without a hometown, and a man who has a story to tell, just like you.

In 1992, he was born to a Roman Catholic Marine officer and an ex-Methodist lady. In his childhood, he moved with them between California and Virginia multiple times. They wound up in Milwaukee when his father retired from the Corps to get a theology degree, and in Montana when a college hired him as a professor. Sean graduated from high school there, and went to Kansas to study English at Benedictine College.

He's been influenced by J.R.R. Tolkien, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Andrew Lang, Mel Gibson, Flannery O' Connor, Peter Jackson, Edmund Spenser, John Milton and many other fine storytellers. Nothing touches his day like a good story.

Sean McGuire managed to build a captivating world and a compelling main character in just 7,000-plus words. Torthan is a war veteran poisoned by the bitterness he hangs on to, and is unable to accept the peace the land now enjoys because of his oppressor. The story follows him as he sets out to wreak his revenge. Little did he know that his greatest enemy was himself.

DIE BY THE SWORD is a beautifully written story that dredges up in the reader the most powerful of emotions. If you read this, and I do recommend you do, then be prepared for an emotional roller coaster!

Sean McGuire blends an epic world with a personal story of revenge. And the results are fantastic.

Torthan cannot forgive the crimes of the past. And even though the world around him is in peace, he suspects treachery at every turn.

Will he kill those who imprisoned him?

Or will old, limping Torthan be crushed by the new world?

The main character is captivating. The dialogue flows. And the story is full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge.

When you start reading, "Die by the Sword," make sure you have nothing important to handle for a while. Because you won't stop, until you reach the epic conclusion that left me breathless.
