As a writer of mythology erotica, I was instantly intrigued when I found out CJ Douglass was releasing a 'Real Bible Sex' story!
It was a fun, hot read. My favourite scene, comparably tame, is actually one at the start of the story, when David sees Bathsheba for the first time as she bathes. Probably because his desire for her and his inability to control himself is most prominent in this scene and that is a kink of mine. We get a similar scene later on with Bathsheba when she considers going back to David for some more sexytimes.
What is surprising given the subject matter is that CJ gave Bathsheba a lot of agency in this retelling. She is not just a prop, but that much I expected. She is the real star of the story! The point of view switches to her when David calls upon her and we experience the sex through her eyes instead of his. This makes sure we know Bathsheba's thoughts and feelings about the encounter, so it's clear she takes joy from it despite the circumstances.
Who will enjoy this book:
Readers who like a female lead with agency who is takes pleasure from (extramarital) sex, this is the book for you!
Who will not enjoy this book:
Readers who expect non-con or Bathsheba to be too pure to willingly take part in the sex will probably be disappointed.
I give it 4/5 stars because I found the conflict Bathsheba faced by sleeping with another man who was not her husband a bit too easily resolved by making Uriah a selfish lover.
I'm looking forward to more books in the series!
