Peter and his sister Beatrice are presented with a Lego toy soldier and a wind up doll with magical powers. They are able to talk in both English and Portuguese. The toys were acquired by their grandparents while visiting Brazil and given to them on their return to England. Little did they know of the toys abilities. Not only they are bilingual, but also they had the gift of flying. Following a trampolining session in their garden, the children, their dog and the toys find themselves up in a cloud full of computer like screens. By touching one of them they get magically transported to the Amazon. The two children find themselves separated by the mighty Amazon River. Peter on one side of the river comes face to face with a jaguar but, as he cautiously retreats, he falls into a deep cave. He hits his head on a stalactite and passes out. Luckily his soldier is an accomplished mountain climber. Beatrice on the other side of the river contracts malaria and is saved by her wind up doll by following a macaw to an Indian settlement. Both brother and sister are rescued by the Indians but their settlement itself comes under threat of being engulfed by fire. They manage to find the ranchers who are setting the forest alight to increase their agricultural land and are able to reason with them until they desist. They are treated as heroes and are taken to Manaus with its grand opera house in the middle of the Amazon jungle and then flown to Rio as V.I.P. guests to watch the Olympic Games where they are reunited with their parents.
