Many people, on hearing the amazing story of how my sister and I uncovered our parents secret, suggested writing a book. As I had written some unpublished children’s short stories many years earlier, I was encouraged by my family to ‘have a go’. While working in an extremely quiet furniture showroom I began writing in a notebook, transferring and editing my words to the computer in the evenings at home. After many rejections from publishers and agents, the story lay in a file on the computer for a number of years until I was inspired to dig it out again and finally complete it! Finally publishing it in 2017. That year I reached the short list of a competition to write a 50 word story. I have written several Christian Gospel songs and poetry.
I have been an avid reader since a very early age. Now, as an adult, family sagas are my favorites. It's good to feel that the author has done some research, where the reader is perhaps taken to different countries with a thought-provoking plot. My local library is a regular haunt and a book is never far from my hands.
Along with writing and reading, I enjoy music. I sing with a local choir and have played the piano since I was a young child. Up until my retirement, I entertained residents in care homes but now play mainly for my own pleasure. Once a month I join a team and play keyboard for church services that are held in various local care homes.
I love living in Eastbourne on the south coast of England with it’s beautiful seafront, the South Downs and quintessential English villages nearby. I have three sons and a daughter and three grandsons and two granddaughters. Oh and I am an occasional dog sitter for Lucy a non-springing Springer Spaniel and Misky, a lively Cockapoo! (Just like grandchildren, they can be handed back at the end of the day!)
