William Hanna is a retired professional engineer with California registrations in Fire Protection and Industrial Engineering. He is a Stanford graduate and has spent much of his 50 year career in fire-related technology development including management of the development of the 7-year federally-funded FIRESCOPE wildland fire management program (as a principal in Santa Barbara’s Mission Research Corporation).
Hanna also pioneered the application of computer-based systems to command and control of urban law enforcement and firefighting resources.
The FIRESCOPE Program concepts are now being applied world wide and computer-based public safety system management applications are also presently found in most larger government settings.
Mr. Hanna presently lives with his wife, Sylvia, in Cambria, California. He and Sylvia are presently collaborating on a new book about a legacy winery in the Chain d’Or mountains of California.
