Dacon Juarbes is an aspiring author, trying to find her way into a literary career. She has been writing short stories and poetry from a very young age. Her love in writing has given her the courage to finally go further and write her first novel, The Christening.
D. N. Juarbes was born Dacon Noelle Troutman in Pensacola, Florida on May 6, 1990, with her twin brother to her parents Kim and Derrick. Her parents divorced when she was very young and she and her brothers moved with her mom to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the only girl with two brothers. Dacon tried being one of the boys but wasn't always able to keep up. She spent a lot of time in her room drawing pictures and playing make-believe. Her mother introduced them to books when she was about five years old. Her mother always had shelves full of books ever since she could remember.
Dacon's new love of books inspired her to write. At nine years old, she started by writing poetry then short stories. She would submit them online to free poetry publishing site and started a collection of her work. But in 2003, her mother remarried and they moved to Merritt Island, Florida. During the move, some of her things went missing, including her writing.
Through her teenage years, she felt like the black sheep of her family and found comfort in the arts. Her bedroom wall became her canvas for drawing and writing. It was a passion she had always taken to.
In 2008, she met her husband Johnny. He too shared a love for books but instead of writing stories, he wrote music. Over the next nine years, both their book collection and family grew. Dacon had three children, Alasiah, Jesiah, and Ronin. She shared her books with them and started their own collection. Dacon loved creating short children's stories for her kids when she had time. But most of her life was consumed by work. She had enough of the corporate life. Nothing she ever did felt right. She never felt at a place in a career, until one night she had a dream. That two-minute scene of a young heroine changed her life. Dacon knew it was a small piece of a story that needed to be told. That's when The Christening was born. Never has she taken on such a project as a novel but eleven months later it was complete.
It is only the beginning of a new found love and career for D. N. Juarbes
